Further to postings during August and September relating to Finnish charts, the following report has been produced after discussions and communications with the Finnish Maritime Administration and Eric von Troil (chart agent and CA HLR for Helsinki).

My apologies for not forwarding this earlier but we have only recently arrived home after a week or two without internet connection. Unfortunately I have been unable to cut off the "tail" of this message. I would like to add a small caveat to one of the Baron's points. "staying in deep (white) water is safe." There are, at least on the Aaland chart Pack, white areas with no soundings

We have completed our 2008 cruise which took us up the Swedish coast from Oxelosund to Lule

We have recently had discussions in Helsinki and will be posting the result when we have everything together. However, as we are currently travelling and have only intermittent access to the internet, this is unlikely to be before our return to UK.

In my earlier posts on this subject I said that some groundings in Finland occured for mundane reasons, by which I meant to indicate "pilot error". However the major point I was seeking to establish and get confirmed was that the introductions to the chart packs Kristin and I possess clearly indicated in Swedish that there were severe limitations on the
