New Imray Digital Charts at the Information Centre

The Cruising Association Information Centre is pleased to announce the acquisition of a complete set of up-to-date Imray Digital Charts for use by members on the PC in the Information Centre. The charts cover the following areas:

North Sea, South and East.

The English Channel

West Coast of Britain and Ireland

The Western Mediterranean

Special Interest Items of the Library

The CA Information Centre welcomes enquiries from CA Members. We aim to answer all enquiries as soon as possible, and to provide accurate and appropriate responses.

Cruise Planning, an overview.

A major feature of the CA Library & Information Centre is the extensive range of recent pilot books, cruising guides, sailing directions and tidal atlases covering the whole world. These are available both for reference and on two-week loan to members.

Log Competition - Guidelines on Submission

Prizes are awarded for the best log of a cruise carried out in the most recent season. Logs should be presented in such a way as to be interesting and readable as well as providing a useful and accurate record to others planning or engaging in a similar cruise.

Library Classification Scheme

The Library & Information Centre operates an in-house classification scheme. The sixteen main classifications and the 228 sub-classifications are listed below to give you an idea of the breadth of information available.

The Hanson Collection

The CA’s inspired founding father Herbert J Hanson was the driving force behind the library for half a century: much of the archive collection was put together by him personally and many other volumes were acquired as a result of Hanson’s rule (now no longer in force) that new members must donate a book on joining the organisation.
