The Rope Shack

The Launch of Lancelin ropes in the UK through the Rope Shack

The Rope-Shack, set up by a fellow CA member, is a new internet store which specialises in ropes for every sort of boat, from hi-spec world-girdling racing yachts to the family dinghy, and everything in-between. The renowned European rope manufacturer, well known in professional circles – Corderie Henri LANCELIN - is making available its full range of marine ropes to this new online store. We are delighted that The Rope Shack will be offering all their products to CA members at a discount of 10%.

The people running this on-line store are active sailors, on both dinghies and yachts, who realised that their requirements were not being met by the current on-line chandlers. As a result, the Rope Shack only stocks products that the staff is confident are the best in the field. Whatever your rope requirements they will be able to supply the ideal product, or suggest where you will be able to get it. They also search out selected other products which, in their view, are the best on the market.

As well as the 10% discount for all CA members, for the months of August and September 500ml of Teak Cleaner Free with all orders over £125.00

In order to take full advantage of this discount, members need to log on to www.cruising.org.uk and sign in to MyCA using their username and password. They can then go to the discounts page, where you will find a link to the dedicated CA members’ online shop.

If any CA member knows of a new product on the market that you feel fits in with the ethos of the Rope Shack, then please let them know, and they may be able to provide it at a discount to CA members.

CA Archive

The Cruising Association was founded in 1908. Here is the story of its foundation.  There are extensive records and artefacts from the entire history of the Association held in our information centre.

By 1920, the CA had achieved much of the structure it has today, with a President and other officers together a council with honorary positions performing most of the office work and eventually after the second world war a paid secretariat. The lists of past office holders below are ordered from the present to the past.

Like most clubs, we reward the endeavours of members. Here are  the past winners of our
