South West Section
The Cruising Association’s South West Section encompasses the area from mid Dartmoor in the east to the Iles of Scilly in the west, the Devon Cornwall border in the north to the Atlantic waves in the south. Our membership lives within this area however we also include many members who base their boats in the West Country so like to have our news.We have many of the best loved harbours in the west of England with stunning coastal scenery all linked to some of England’s richest history and legend.
The membership meets in two locations one in Plymouth and one in Falmouth as travel on dark winter evenings on narrow lanes is not always fun. We are very fortunate to have forged partnerships with both the clubs that host our joint meetings, the Royal Western and the Royal Cornwall. They provide us with excellent facilities, good food, and a warm welcome for our winter gatherings. Our meets are usually in the evening approximately every four weeks over the winter, other activities include joint rallies and the occasional day time seminar.
The Section is run by a small team of eight members headed by the Joint Section Secretaries Sue Evans and Jill Trew. We give a warm welcome to new members and are delighted if members wish to get involved, suggest new ideas for activities, organise a rally or lead a cruise in company.
A newsletter every two to three months and reminders before meetings disseminate news between members and keeps everyone informed about the Section gatherings.
