The 2006-2007 Guide to the Leeward Islands; Chris Doyle; Cruising Guide Publications, 6thEd., 2006; $US 29.95; CA 16710
Rated as number one guide for this area, Chris Doyle’s publication is certainly a rich source of material for the sailor whether cruising for a season or two or on a short charter or passage through. The islands are covered from Anguilla south to Dominica.
The new edition is updated with navigation data including key GPS points, immigration and customs regulations, weather, comms, general shore-side facilities as well as shopping, diving sites and much more. Good photographs and chartlets help both navigation and the decision as to where to moor.
The presentation is neat and effective with a style familiar to those who have used the CG publications for the Caribbean. The strong wire ring binding allows pages to lay flat on the chart table without disintegration. It is difficult to envisage cruising this area without the appropriate guide available both for the sailing and the enjoyment of the time ashore. - MDPage prepared 21 March 2006
