Anyone who has cruised round Greece will be grateful to Rod Heikell for compiling what has become “the bible” for pilotage in these waters. Information on anchorages, harbours, prevailing and katabatic winds, along with details of facilities and amenities etc is presented in a clear. comprehensive and logical manner. The plans are both clear and invaluable. A light sprinkling of history and local description adds interest to, or reason for, visiting some of the many remote anchorages or watering holes. Besides drawing on his on-going experience, information is received from many of the East Mediterranean cruising fraternity including some from the CA- which he kindly acknowledges. In this 7th edition, the text has been reviewed, a number of new plans added, and some excellent colour photographs to give an idea of the approach and look of the place, included. If you are planning or cruising in this delightful region, “Heikell” is invaluable and, for little more than the cost of a couple of new charts it is well-worth having an up to date edition on board.
