We have become so used to pilot books that many of us may have forgotten how enormously they add to the enjoyment of our holidays and how indebted we are to their authors. I say a big thank you for all of them. In fact electronic charts have the door unlocked to include much pilotage information but so far only C-map seem to be pushing it open to add user value to their electronic charts.
Pilot books vary in quality but there is no doubt that those by Martin Lawrence come right at the top of the list. This new edition is in full colour with quite excellent colour photographs and clear concise chartlets. For once we have an author that keeps his Pilot books free from “travel guide information” so keeping them of a manageable size and price. I have nothing but praise for the Isle of Mull Pilot which fits in well to Martin Lawrence’s four book series covering Stranraer to Cape Wrath. Quite excellent. - RPY.
