The RYA Book of Diesel Engines; Tim Bartlett; Adlard Coles Nautical, 2nd ed., 2002; £12.99; CA 16077
This could
usefully be kept on board during the sailing season but, for me, its more important value
is as a study guide in which to immerse oneself and to learn about every facet of the
diesel in the relative peace and quiet of home. To
many of us it is a strange beast. Even
with one uder the bonnet of a car, nothing very much sees the light and here we have an
admirable manual, really well ilustrated and taking us through all the mechanicals - some
of which were quite unknown to me.
Not just a good read, but a necessary one. - JFB
