Cruise the Black Sea; Doreen & Archie Annan; Atakoy Marina & Y.C., 2001; CA 16133.

There are few places in the Mediterranea area that remain largely unexplored by cruising yachts. The Black Sea is one of them. This excellent Pilot and Guide will surely encourage folk to enjoy the varied, interesting harbours and anchorages available to small craft there.

Having covered some 55,000 cruising miles in their 13.5 m sloop Okura, many during the nine years spent in Turkey, Archie and Doreen have been group leaders in both the long-established Eastern Med. and the more recent Black Sea rallies. They have spent countless hours producing this Pilot. Archie drew all the chartlets and sketch plans. Doreen wrote the narrative, took the photographs and attended to the logistics; compilation being a joint effort. An unusual aspect is that the production and publication were undertaken by Atakoy Marina, one of Turkey's leading yacht facilities. The standard achieved at least equals that of any similar publication available in the world today.

The A4 format has been fully exploited, well printed in full colour throughout. There are a multitude of high quality illustrations and very clear harbour and anchorage chartlets. Besides pilotage instructions, the 342 pages contain much general information about the six countries covered, including the legal requirements to visit them.

An essential purchase for anyone intending to cruise this area! - ARB
