From the first page, and description of sailing Vixen, a vintage 55 foot cutter, with her motley crew of six teenagers on probation, the tale unfolds with exciting complexity, never allowing the reader to relax,. Bill, our hero, a highly regarded and sought after helmsman is also a journalist well known for reporting from trouble-torn parts of the world. Along with his brother, he has inherited Vixen from their father and to maintain the upkeep necessary on an old wooden boat, he is chartered to a sailing trust and rehabilitation of youngsters. The story dives into dark areas of political aspirations, assassination, and possible ruined reputations. The sailing descriptions are good as the Vixen follows the Tall Ships to Tallinn and Helsinki. To say any more about the plot would spoil this exciting read that I found difficult to put down. The book is a well printed, largish soft backed, easy to keep at bed or bunkside. - FT
