There are some particularly grisly murders in this tale of a winter cruise on a 31 foot yacht from Denmark to the West Coast of Scotland. The story is well told by a man with obvious experience of small boats. Its background involves the Celtic identity, mysticism, the Druids, King Arthur and even Plaid Cymru. There hints of the I.R.A. I was amazed at the Swedish author's knowledge of such matters.
The plot is quite complicated and a chart or good map of the Western Isles will help those unfamiliar with these waters as that given is not detailed. The end is dramatic and, of course, quite unexpected. As an inhabitant of the Celtic Fringe I must reassure members planning to cruise here next year that they will be perfectly safe. - JLC
