Suddenly Alone: Know You Can Handle It

Awareness of this issue has increased in recent years. It is certainly a concern for my wife and myself as we prepare for long term cruising. Yet materials on the subject are rare, which makes this book, published in the US so valuable. It has been put together by panel of experienced sailors and supported by the Cruising Club of America. Its no-nonsense approach and work book format suited us well. It takes the reader through the generalities and then focuses on what equipment you have on your boat, where it is stowed and how it is used. The work book goes through man-overboard, basic navigation and how to seek help in a logical fashion. Its spiral binding and concise length make it it a useful resource for dealing with this issue. – JP
