We have a CA Almanac with tide tables for two years and much else besides, covering Denmark to Gibraltar including the UK and Ireland. In my view this is definitely a step in the right direction. There is much in here to help the UK cruising yachtsman: good harbour chartlets in four colours, a section on shore services and port facilities, passage notes and good size tidal curves. There is a useful section on WayPoint cruise planning incorporating area planners together with a list of suitable waypoints. Secondary port information is included but arranged differently from MacMillans.

Yes, I’d like to see some alterations, such as the 1999 and 2000 figures more pronounced on the tide tables and, perhaps, tougher covers as the trifty may make it last for two years - but all in all a good buy. -FET
