More than ten years since it was previously published, this fully revised and reset edition will be welcomed by anyone planning a trip on our inland waterways, or interested in their history. An introduction and a map insert describes and illustrates the present network of canals and navigable rivers: credit is given to the individuals and organisations who have prevented much of the canal system from becoming derelict and abandoned, and who still work to restore it. All makes fascinating reading. Whether fully navigable or not, each waterway has been painstakingly researched. All the information one needs has been gathered together in one volume, so that its size and expense is probably justified. Unreservedly recommended. - JFP
