Mike Peyton describes the essence of cartoons as lateral thinking - a clever, subtle, observation of shared experience unites the artist and reader, providing the humour.
Nothing clever or subtle here however, I'm afraid, in this slim volume featuring unlikely tales of nautical mishap and their associated illustrations. Imagine the sort of shaggy dog stories you'll hear from the crowd propping up the yacht club bar, featuring the usual stereotypes, fat Germans, gormless women, imperturbable coastguards and so on - you've heard it all before, probably too many times - and punctuated by periodic guffaws, and you've got the idea. OK if this is your kind of thing, but otherwise not really recommended. – BMF
