Written with the aim of helping people setting off to cruise the Mediterranean for the first time, this is a well-researched planning guide by an author who has sailed with her husband in the area since 1992.
The photographs, maps and illustrations are of a high standard and are attractively produced. The book is divided sensibly into sections for initial planning, buying and equipping the yacht, voyaging to the Mediterranean, cruising grounds in the Mediterranean, and living on board. The author writes in an easy, friendly style and her comments on their own and other people's experiences are interesting - the discovery of greenhouse shading material for use as awnings, for instance. The appendices include a comprehensive list of equipment, first aid and food divided into categories of priority, and a useful list of reference books and manuals.
For anyone planning a Mediterranean cruise, or even just thinking about it, this guide would be a most useful tool and enjoyable to read. I thoroughly recommend it. - HT
