A remarkable pilot of a section of the coast which many of us have never visited. I sailed down some of it myself some 53 years ago and had the advantage of a shallow draft. The author has been into every one of the havens he describes, with a draught of five feet, but taking the ground was quite common.

What a coast this is! We aren't just shown excellent pictures, sketchmaps and leading marks, but given fascinating background to the reasons why the havens ever came to be built - to cope with local industrial development for example. I am sorry to be a bit over the top. I'm far more used to carping but do consider this book if only for the excellent insight it gives to the area. Like travel, it broadens the mind. - JFB
