Alan Watts can be considered a guru of weather forecasting and on receiving this attractively covered A4 book to review on the wind, that teams up with his Instant Weather Forecasting, I anticipated the task with pleasure. Wind is so important and being helped to forecast it is a great aid to safe and efficient sailing.

All the facts that enable one to assess the current and approaching situation are clearly and comprehensibly detailed, interspersed with some sketches and excellent photographs. However the print is small and pale making it difficult to read in anything except bright light, and the margins are unfortunately all on the ‘wrong’ side of each page, i.e. the print rides close up to the binding whereas the wide margin is at the outer edge. I hope that Instant Wind Forecasting will be reprinted with these two comments in mind – then I could recommend it for your boat’s book case. - FT
