Annie Hill has already written one book about the long distance cruising adventures she and her husband Pete have enjoyed in their boat Badger, entitled Voyaging on a Small Income. I presume this book contained two things I am always intrigued to know about long distance voyages: all about the boat, and the finances. No mention in this volume unfortunately.

The voyage described is from Britain to the Falklands, a journey full of interest and obviously competently performed. There is plenty to enjoy in the account; the sailing, the time ashore, and the many lovely people they met on the way. The jewel in the crown for me was the year they spent in the Falklands. I now feel I know exactly what the islands are like and the lifestyle the inhabitants have, and their views on both Britain and Argentina are an eye-opener. Annie Hill writes well and leaves you with the impression that you were almost there with her.

There are numerous photographs (black and white) and some lovely little sketches. There area also lots of chartlets but these did not do much for me, chiefly because they were not related to any overall chart so you had no idea where they were, and contained no track of Badger. Read it though. It is a lovely book. - JSS
