Almost a pocket sized book in a plastic folder to help use the information when actually tying knots. A very comprehensive and colourful book with all the diagramatic instructions in photographic form. Many of the knots are made using different coloured ropes or coloured backgrounds to make it easier to follow. Throughout the book there are icons showing the categories where the knot would be used.

For the beginner there is an interesting beginning section on types and construction of ropes and their uses including storage and maintenance. The book is divided in to sections on knots, splices etc. Each double page shows a specific knot, explaining its properties. The step by step instructions are clear and there are tips and helpful advice. The finished knot is shown and the main variations.

A very clear book for those just starting to learn knots and splices or to help remind the experienced of the variety of knots available and their uses. A useful book to have on board or a good book to practice knots and splices in the winter. - SL
