With his detailed experience of the navigation of the South Coast it is only reasonable to expect Peter Bruce to have a similar fund of Knowledge when it comes to refreshment of the skipper and crew “when the long trick’s over”. In my own long sailing career in this area I have visited many of the places he names and applaud his choices. He does not set out to provide a gourmet’s guide to eating in the Solent, but simply to tell you what to expect, whether it be simple pub grub or a slap-up meal. Obviously places change from time to time, but anyone using this book is sure to find a pleasant pub and good food and drink after a day at sea. BH
