Ocean Cruising Club

Publisher: OCC
Publication Date: 2005

A splendid account of the early years of this enterprising, not to say heroic, body of men and women. The OCC is 'open to all who have cruised or raced on any ocean a distance of 1000 miles between ports in a sail or motor boat not more than 70 feet overall.' Challenging stuff in today's large plastic boats, buzzing with nav and communications gear; it is salutary to be reminded that the OCC's first Commodore, Hum Barton, did his in a Vertue. Welcome to a tougher but perhaps more sporting world. - SLI
