The East Coast is the American Eastern Seaboard. Despite my protestations that I have not sailed this cruising area, I was asked to write this review. I can only inform you about the impression this 1158 page book gives. It is smaller than its British counterpart, 15 x23 centimetres compared to 19 x 26, perhaps because, rather oddly for an American product, it carries no adverts and has no colour. The area covered is Nova Scotia to the Gulf Coast, plus Bermuda and the Bahamas. After four chapters on Planning, Communication, Weather, Navigation, there is then the Coastal Pilot section of some 525 pages. Pilotage is separated from Tides and Currents - I must admit to not knowing the reason for making these separate; and have found it useful to have pilotage and tides for a particular harbour adjacent. Since 1 do not know what the rival pilots are, 1 am unable to advise on its relative utility. More knowledgeable readers may wish to add their views. - MPB
