Log Competition - Guidelines on Submission

Prizes are awarded for the best log of a cruise carried out in the most recent season. Logs should be presented in such a way as to be interesting and readable as well as providing a useful and accurate record to others planning or engaging in a similar cruise. All log entries may be presented as a printed document, including relevant illustrations plans, route sketches etc., or may be entered electronically by email or on disk. Photos should enhance the understanding of the log and should not normally exceed 100 in number.

The title page should give details of the route, duration, vessel and crew. Emphasis will be placed by the judge on the cruising achievement, considering route, weather etc, readability and presentation, navigation, pilotage, other cruising information and seamanship under all conditions. The best log entries may be published in CRUISING and, with the member’s approval, may be submitted for publication in the national yachting press. A second copy of the log should accompany the entry, preferably in DVD or CD form, for the Information Centre at CA House.
