HANNs 04/4 is the last in the series of Harbour, Anchorage and Navigation Notes for 2004 which members of the Cruising Association have received this year. Below are listed some of the matters of interest taken both from members contributions and the Admiralty Notices to Mariners.
The full notes are related to the pages in the Cruising Almanac 2005/2006 published by Imray Laurie, Norie and Wilson in conjunction with the Cruising Association. Available to members for £22.50 + postage and £28 to non members. These are the first HANNs referenced to the new 2005/06 almanac.
There are continuing additional Met services available to yachtsmen. DWD 5 days spot wind forecasts can be found for those using HF/SSB at

Many changes noted in Notes to mariners now beginning to appear for the Thames estuary with the advent of wind farms. Also Scroby wind farm off Great Yarmouth is now building.
Recent changes in The Wash have meant the replacement and movement in the position of many buoys and bns in the rivers leading up to Wisbech and King's Lynn.
Port Ellen on Islay now has a small marina with berths for about 20 boats.
One of our members has written enthusiastically on a new marina in N Ireland at Glenarm which might prove a good staging post for those going from Belfast Lough through N channel to the W coast of Scotland where it is difficult to get past Kintyre before the tide changes against one.
At this time of the year many of our members are sending in logs of their summer cruises or sending in reports on changes that have been made since the local pilot was published. We have had extensive reports on the N and NW coasts of Spain which is proving an increasingly popular cruising ground.
The Baltic is now very popular with members especially those who keep their boats on the E coast. This HANNs includes reports on 16 ports on the S coast of Finland from one member and 5 from another.
Croatia is ever popular one member having visited and sent in a report on 47 ports there. We also have an excellent Honorary Local Representative there.
Further afield there is a report from a couple who visited the San Blas Islands off the Columbian coast. And one member who was only cruising managed to log up to 15kn at one point crossing the N Atlantic.
