HANNs 03/2 is the second in the series of Harbour, Anchorage and Navigation
Notes for 2003 which members of the Cruising Association have received this
year. Below are listed some particular matters of interest taken both from
members contributions and from the Admiralty Notices to Mariners.
The full notes are related to the pages in the Cruising Association
Almanac 2003/2004 available to CA members for £22.50 + postage and
£28 to non members.
There have been many changes to Navtex weather broadcasts on 518kHz which
are noted. There is also advice to those getting weather forecasts worldwide.
Details are given of the changes in the TSS off Ouessant where there
are now 4 lanes. The first is for inshore traffic, the second also has two
way traffic. The third one out has traffic NW going only and the outermost
is for SW going only. The whole system is further out from Ouessant than
previously and the outer Lanby buoys have been moved accordingly.
Reported that fuel is no longer available from Hamble Point marina but can be obtained from Port Hamble marina further upstream.
We have received the latest information on the entrance to the River
Deben. Also from a new survey which has been carried out for the entrance
to the River Ore. One of our members has tested this and advises on
the best water.
One of our Honorary Local Representatives has sent us very detailed information
on the recommended yacht tracks into the River Humber. These are clearly
shown on an A3 sheet in our regional files.
We received a report that the Michiel de Ruyter marina at Vlissingen no longer sells diesel.
Binic on the French channel coast was visited by one of our members
who gave a good description of both its delights and how to get into the
basin.
Santander is a port where many changes have taken place in the last
year or so and indeed are still going on. One of our members did a survey
of a part of the harbour and a recent notice to mariners gives a block of
the part from the marina upstream.
There are details of yachting developments at Santa Eugenia de Riveira on the west side of the Ria de Arosa.
We received a list of charges on many harbours in the Ballearic islands and the Mediterranean coast of Spain.
The problem of cruising permits for the Galapagos islands was reported.
A must for anyone visiting them. Also details of a cyclone hole in Tahiti in the Pacific.
