HANNs 00/3 is the third instalment of Harbour, Anchorage and Navigation
Notes which members of the Cruising Association have received this year.
Below are listed some high lights from members reports which give much
unique information to those sailing both in Europe or indeed anywhere in
the world. There are many Admiralty Notices to Mariners which affect the sailing directions in the CA Handbook and are noted here. There are some interesting comments on harbours and marinas in North Brittany between Paimpol and L'Aber Benoit. We have some good reports about harbours in North Spain including the new marina at Zumaia. One of our members visited 3 of the 4 marinas in the Bay of Cadiz and makes some valuable comparisons. The most interesting cruising by our members has been a rally to St Petersberg. This has taken various forms and 3 or our members made a passage through the White Sea canal in to the Arctic and Murmansk. From there they went on to round North Cape to reach the West Coast of Norway. We received a lot of reports on ports in Tunisia which is beconing quite a popular cruising ground. Sardinia and Corsica are also becoming increasingly popular and our reports on marinas and harbours here will help future members visiting these two islands. There are the usual notes updating the pilots on Italy and Greece which are invaluable to members cruising there. Not many yachtsmen visit islands in the Indian Ocean but if they do we have information on the Cocos Islands, Christmas Island and the Island of Rodrigues. These notes include the essential notes on Customs procedures and formalities which are difficult to track down elsewhere. Page created 9 August 2000 |
