What is necessary in terms of medical supplies for sailing within Europe?

Answer: A good strong waterproof First Aid box is recommended by Rod Heikell. He advised packing the items into polythene bags so that they stay dry and unsoiled. Make sure you can use the items in the First Aid box. Do not carry unnecessary items that will not be used. He has made a list from his years' of experience and this can be found on page 58 of the Mediterranean Cruising Handbook (2004 edition).

Information on form E111 can be found by visiting this link: http://www.dh.gov.uk/PolicyAndGuidance/HealthAdviceForTravellers/

UK citizens are advised to complete the form and read the Department's of Health's leaflet T4 Health Advice for Travellers which can be found in most travel agents. This entitles you to free medical treatment under a reciprocal agreement with the NHS. Private medical treatment is likely to be expensive, hence it may be worthwhile taking out medical insurance.
