Helsingborg Nordhavn 56N2.9, 12E41.2 (922)
Central and convenient for castle and all sights. Kr125 <10m, Kr150 10-15m including showers and sauna. Finger berths. Electricity Kr30. Overlooked by Dunkers Kulturhus (Kr60)with modern exhibitions. Lively and very attractive mainly modern city, but St. Mary's church was completed in 1450. Have coffee and waffles by a windmill high above town. Huge public library set in park with free Internet, bookable. 18/6/03

Högenäs 56N11.9, 12E32.9 (922)
Quite large residential marina but some searching may be needed to find a green ledigt till plate. Kr100 <10m, Kr120 >10m including showers and electricity. Large ICA supermarket. Library with Internet. Fine bathing beach outside mole with bridges to swimmable water, water hardly salty, outdoor shower. 15/6/03

Torekov 56N25.7, 12E37.5 (923)
Small harbour using red/green to indicate berth status of boxes. Charges based on beam rather than length, but came to usual 100Kr including showers, elec 20Kr. Shower 5Kr coin.Approaching note that what may appear to be a red-topped lighthouse is a tall white church tower with pan-tiled roof. Very conspic.Spar supermarket close to church. Fiskhuset overlooking harbour has very good rreasonably-priced fish. Charming small town. Highly recommended. 14/6/03

Falkenberg 56N53.8, 12E29.7 (924)
Falkenberg Båtsällskap has excellent moorings on righthand side below bridge in this extremely well-sheltered harbour. Kr80 including electricity and key for WCs etc, shower Kr5. Over bridge to old town with houses from 1754 and church from 1787. Cruising Almanac says stream can run to 4kn . 14/6/03I have experienced 1-2kn there in the summer and, bearing in mind that the Ätran is a considerable river (250 km long), there could well be such currents in the spring. Varberg, 57N27.3, 11E54.9 (925SE)
Alongside berths in inner harbour, electricity from yellow pillars; also berts in boxes if free (green shown). SKr100 <10m, 140 >10m. Showers and WCs only open 0700 - 2100, SKr5 coin, back of kiosk . Washing m/c. Blue Flag. Castle overlooks harbour; houses museum with clothing and "body" of Boksten man preserved in bog since C14th, and brass button said to be musketball that killed Charles XIII. Konsum supermarket 10-18, 10-16 (Sat.) in mall near harbour. Very fine town with huge central square, church on one side. Fine library with free Internet. Fine bathing beaches, also segregated nude bathing areas. Large open-air pool beyond castle. Sauna and enclosed sea swimming in magnificent Victorian-style (but rebuilt after a fire) "pier". 12/6/03

Lerkil, 57N27.3, 11E54.9 (925NM)
Convenient halfway harbour between Varberg and Göteborg. Nothing to see here. Visitors on inside of outer mole by barge with toilet facilities, and disel on end of mole. Shower SEK1 coin for 40 secs. Also pontoon with fingers. Kiosk but nearest shop 6km! 10/6/03

Bohuslän

Göteborg Lilla Bommen, 57N42.7, 11E57.9 (931SE, 9313NE)

Just below second bridge on S side by large four-master Viking is the guest harbour in central Göteborg with 100 guest places. Mooring bows-on to pontoons with permament stern mooring ropes, also many alongside, SEK150 (<11m) including unlimited showers + electrictity 40. Covered bridge over main road to large shopping mall with supermarket and fine shops, and railway station and airport bus terminal. Chandlery. Washing machine/drier. 10/6/03


Källö Knippla, 57N45.0, 11E39.3) (931NW)
Small popular marina becoming overcrowded at week ends. Free ferry brings car traffic and allows commuting to Goteborg. Bathing place nearby. Bows-on from stern buoys, SEK120 <12m, 150 12-30m inc electricity. Shower SEK5 coin. Small supermarket, kiosk with some chandlery. Not recommended. 7/6/03

Vrångö, 57N34.5, 11E46.7 (9313SE)
Southernmost harbour in Bohuslän with nominally space for 5-10 guests alongside, SEK80 inc electricity. Visitors may have to move at about 1000 when fishing boats return. Mini-ICA with basics. Kiosk. Bathing S of harbour and of ferry hasrbour on E coast. Very attractive island with well-built cycling/walking paths in nature reserves to N and S. No cars. Highly recommended if time to enjoy countryside.19/8/02

Donsö, 57N35.9, 11E47.5 (9313SE)
Southernmost big marina in Bohuslän, principally a large open fishing harbour. SEK70 for alongside berth <10m. Guest places alongside N end of S mole, but most yachts lie alongside E side nearer WCs (SEK2x1) and shower (5 for 3 mins), and ICA/PO 0930-19 Mon & Fri, -18 Tues - Thurs, -13 Sat. SEB bank. Diesel outside main mole, auto-pumps taking 100 and 20 notes, also attended during day. Waste oil station.Downmarket sister with bowling alley to Strysö, which is connected by wide road bridge with street lights, despite no cars allowed on either island! Restaurants but ferry terminal on Strysö side of bridge. 19/8/02

Tången, 57N37.3, 11E46.1 (9313SW)
Particularly good ICA supermarket reflecting taste of these islanders. SEK90 including electricity but not toilets. No showers. Bows-on mooring to outside pontoon subject to wash; nearby (600m) Sandviken harbour serving same village has alongside berths in well-sheltered harbour with leading lights, also SEK90 including electricity and showers. Sea bathing at Sandviken. 20/8/02

Hönö (Klåva), 57N40.9, 11E39.0 (9313NW)
Largish town with 600 houses clustered together. Guest harbour is on left after entering, with bows-on mooring from buoys. SEK90 including electricity and showers. 35 steps plus ramps lead to water tower with 53 step spiral staircase giving fantastic panoramic view of adjacent islands and open sea. Bathing ladder at foot of lighthouse outside harbour. Spar supermarket 9-20(16, Sun 11-16). Pizzeria.
Excellent bakery. Fresh fish shop. Worth visiting for the bakery itself. 21/8/02

Öckerö, 57N42.5, 11E45.0 (9313SE)

Big fishing harbour with small quay for guests bows-on from buoys. SEK80 incl. shower. Big supermarket, fresh fish shop, bookshop and kiosk by quay. Very easy entrance making it useful provisioning stop. Diesel. 8/8/02



Björkö, 57N44.0, 11E40.2 (931SW/NW)
Very large harbour but with guest places very handy and obvious just left inside entrance. Although the listing says "Ankare" a new concrete pontoon has fingers on both sides and beyond on the quay there are fixed ropes so definitely no anchoring. Berth SEK . Shower SEK5. Overlooking the harbour and surrounding islands, open sea and mainland from a rocky plateau, reached by road and steep initially grassed path.

Rörö, 57N46.4, 11E37.0 (931NW)
Fishing harbour with excellent yachting facility. Berth bows-on from stern anchor SEK100 + 20 electricity. Shower SEK 5 for 3mins. Washing m/c 35. ICA 9-1830, Sun 10-18. Fresh fish shop 10-18 (closed Mon). PO. Diesel. Lovely coastal and inland walk through wild country. Entry looks difficult on chart but straightforward on leading line. Isl;and has unusual variagated granite with some marbling. Ocean-going trawler Astrid with 4m draft based here. Highly recomended. 8/8/02

Marstrand, 57N53.06, 11E35.19 (9321SW)
Historic harbour overlooked by magnificent fortress (completed 1676 and garrisonned until 1882) which is well worth exploring. Swimming places. Marvelous walk aroung island. Extensive guest moorings on W (island) side, but becomes crowded in season so early arrival recommended. SEK140 (<12m), SKr280 (12-18m) including electricity. Showers SKr40 for 4 sessions. Not much worth crossing to E (mainland) side for except large supermarket and bank: cable ferry SKr10 return. Supermarket actually has own free short stop berths but not easy to locate. Restaurants, boutiques. White stone church. 6/6/03

Dyrön Sydhamnen, 57N55.4, 11RE37.1 (9321SW)
A really delightful island with excellent harbours to N and S. The S harbour is to be preferred unless you have children, where the N one has better bathing facilities. Blue Flag. SEK120 per night including showers + 30 electricity. Moor bows-on picking up rope to tie to stern (Fast Akterförtöjning = permament forward rope). Supermarket 1000-1230, 1500-1800 weekdays, 09-13 Sat. Washing m/c. Enchanting waymarked path around W half of island. New (2003) waymarked path to a summit overlooking Åstol. Library with free Internet open Weds 1700-1900. Highly recommended. 5/6/03

Dyrön Nordhamnen, 57N55.8, 11RE36.2 (9321SW)
Alternative to above with good bathing facilities. Alongside moorings. Otherwise see Dyrön Sydhamnen. 5/6/03

Åstol, 57N55.42, 11E35.18 (9321SW)
A delightful island whose well-sheltered east facing harbour almost divides into two. It is entirely surrounded by wooden quay with areas of guest places on N and S sides. Charge SEK120 including showers, electricity where available SEK30. Shop, 10-13 and 15-17 Mon/Thu and to 19 Fri, some Sat 9-13. PO 15-1730. Telephone. Kiosk/café and restaurant. Island is non-conformist and religious. Good swimming place with diving board on SE corner and childrens pool on SW corner. Recommended. 26/8/01

Tjörnekalv, 57N56.1, 11E34.6 (9321SW)
(Calf of Tjörne) Pleasant island with path to rugged cliffs on S side, good bathing. SEK100 with new facilities. Moor bows-on picking up rope to tie to stern (Fast Akterförtöjning=permament forward rope) 5/8/02

Rönnäng, 57N 56.49, 11E34.41, (9321SW)
There are three places with guest places, main one well sheltered as above, diesel and limited chandlery, showers and washing machine (SEK10) at Q8 Butik (8-21) overlooking it; another more exposed is in the southern entrance (57N 55.42, 11E34.5) with alongside mooring north and south of the passenger ferry, WC (with hot water) only. SEK100. Very attractive easy walk with steps up hill overlooking entrance; starts at hotel. Kiosk/restaurant. Good pizzeria. ICA supermarket (including PO) about 1km. Hövik-Båtar provide excellent laying-up service with GRP repair and respraying facility. 28/8/01

Kladesholmen, 57N56.25, 11E32.23 (9321NW)
Tiny harbour, guest pontoon has fingers. 100Kr plus 30Kr for electricity. Narrow entrance is marked by dimunitive Kl., but has a number of white houses on the rock above the E side. Bathing ladders. Shower swipe card SEK40 for 10 showers. Washing m/c promised for 2002. Herring industry museum open 15-19 daily in season. Supermarket 9-18(Fri19, Sat14). Recommended. 24/8/01

Skärham, 57N59.3, 11E32.8 (9321NW)
Attractive town with a number of museums and restaurants. Well sheltered guest harbour has bows-on mooring from convenient tall buoys. 120Kr plus 30Kr for electricity. Good showers. Washing m/c 30Kr, drier 25Kr. Large ICA Supermarket. Excellent chandlery. Conspic white church. 20/6/02

Bovallstrand, 58N28.6, 11E19.2 (933NW/934SE)
Visitors lie alongside inside or ourside of outer pontoon, SEK 100 <10m. Elec 30. Shower 5 for 3mins. Washing m/c 50 + 30. An attractive up-market resort. 70 steep steel steps to cliff overlooking harbour and outlying skerries. Art galleries. 4/8/02

Mollösund, 58N4.4, 11E28.2 ()
<12m SEK100, bows-on. Pretty full in season. good diesel access. ICA 9-20 (11-20 Sun). PO. Fresh fish. Attractive wooden church. 5/8/02

Fiskebäckskil, 58N14.61, 11E27.71 (933SW)
Delightful town with 1700 wooden church on site of 1500 church, 1854 windmill, bathing beach. Polpulation largely weekenders. Showers, Electricity. Moor bows-on to guest pontoon and pick up submerged rope from a ground chain to attach to stern, DON'T anchor! Recommended 22/8/01

Grundsund, 58N12.9, 11E 25.0 (933SW)
Attractive harbour with bows-on guest places on W side of outer hr. Sector entry light on W mole. 90Kr (<10m) + 30 electricity. Shower 5Kr 3 mins. Restaurants overlooking entrance and above guest places. Swimming place N of restaurant on E side. ICA 9-21 all days in summer (24/6-11/8). Highly recommended 4/8/02

Lysikil, 58N16.17, 11E26.25 (933SW)
Huge marina, guests moor bows-on from stern buoys. Two Minibanks. PO. Long-opening stores. Town dominated by 1901 church with spire 63m high which is 95m above sea level. 23/8/01

Smögen, 58N21.20, 11E13.44 (933NW)
Jolly holiday town with guest quays on N (with shops) and S (with diesel) quays on little sound. Showers, Electricity. Presumably over-crowded in season. Bank at Kungsham, a much larger port just to NW. 22/8/01

Kungshamn, 58N21.6, 11E14.9 (933NW)
Marina SEK100 plus 30 electricity, 5 shower. Bridge across to Smögen with splendid views. ICA supermarket 7022 daily overlooks marina. May be noisy at times. 22/6/02

Bovallstrand, 58N28.6, 11E19.2 (934SE)
Guest places alongside outer pontoon. 100Kr (<10m) + 20 electricity. ICA 9-21 all days in summer. An up-market seaside town. Art galleries. 70 steel steps lead from top of road to cliff top commanding stunning view of outer islands. Excellent bathing place S of marina. Highly recommended.4/8/02

Hamburgsund, 58N33.07, 11E16.21 (934)
Alongside mooring SEK60 in 2001. Electricity. Free water. Shower SEK5 for 2 mins. Washing machine SKr30. Wooden church on hill opposite, free cable ferry across Sound. Shops. PO. Highly recommended. 21/8/0 Revisited 24/6/02

Grebbestadt, 58N41.2, 11E15.4(934NE)
A very pleasant town with marinas overlooked by rounded cliffs offering splendid views. Bows on mooring from buoys ans some alongside berths. SEK100 + 30 electricity and 5 shower. 1890 church with new round windows with brightly coloured glass in sanctuary. Konsum and ICA supermarkets 8-22 daily in summer, newspaper kiosk has a few english papers, good bakery. 24/6/02

Havstensund, 59N45.42, 10E10.73 (934NE)
Alongside mooring SEK100 inc electricity, also at 45E45.25. Shower SKr5 for 4mins. Water SEK5 for about 5 mins. Very clean. Grocery/chandlery 9-18 daily (Charts (inc Norwegian), books)/diesel; takes Visa. Recommended. Path through deep shoulder-width fissure leads to top of cliff overlooking marina and sea to S.20/8/01 updated 25/6/02

Resö, 59N48.08, 10E9.80 (934NE)
Visitors berths inside harbour mole, but crowded in season. SEK100 + 20 electricity (only available on mole). Excellent WCs and showwers (SEK5). Extra-Pris supermarket. Overlooked by granite cliff with attractive path up. 2/9/02

Strömstadt, 58N56.1, 11E10.1 (935E)
Large marina and large city. Berth SEK110 + 30 electricity +10 if you don't prepay! Shower and WC SEK5 but water free! Easiest mooring on inside of long pontoon connecting rocks Skurve to mainland. Large Color Line ferry to Oslo. Fine 1892 church open daily 08-15 and Sat 0830 Sun 1000. ICA just S of westermost bridge open 8-22 daily. 28/6/02

Syd-Koster, 58N53.7, 11E2.9 (935W)
Very popular island with regular ferry and large camping site. Country walks in Nature Reserve. Bicycle hire, hundreds of cyclists! Motorised tricycles with goods platform probably only form of motor transport allowed, and a bit of a menace carrying children who could walk. Two supermarkets. Attractine wooden church opn daily, Sunday service at 1900. 1/8/02

Nord-Koster, 58N53.7, 11E2.9 (935W)
Very peaceful island with no vehicles, separated from Syd-Koster by narrow Kostersundet. Quiet marina but popular with Norwegians (only 12NM from Utgardskilen in Norway). Small supermarket. Kiosk/cafe. Restaurant. Very good bathing beaches, especially that at Kyrkosunde Marina. Country walks in Nature Reserve. 1/8/02
