The Cruising Association is run by a Council and a number of committees and groups assisted by a number of honorary officers and a professional secretariat.

The CA has recently become a limited company and has applied to become a charity. The basic documents are as shown below.

By 1920, the CA had achieved much of the structure it has today, with a President and other officers together a council with honorary positions performing most of the office work and eventually a paid secretariat. The lists of past office holders below are not yet complete, except for the presidents and vice-presidents, and are ordered from the present to the past.

The CA has a number of Associated Yacht Clubs around the world. It is also a member of the International Council of Cruising Yachts (ICCY).
